Cape Splendour Tours will custom make this tour to suite your requirement in terms of where you would like to stay, for how long according to  your budget and preferences in terms of B&B or Hotel etc. We have a preference with Guest Houses over hotels as they offer a far more personalized service which is in line with the way we operate.

Below is a suggested itinerary but please bear in mind this is just a suggestion! We would take care of meeting you at the Airport and taking you to the Guest House or Hotel of your choice.  Your tour would follow along these lines or similar.

Day 1: The Mother City Tour

The Mother City Tour will give you an opportunity to orientate yourself in our beautiful City. What better way to do this from the majestic Table Mountain. From this platform you will see the city stretching out below you, False Bay extending from Cape Point in the distance, to Cape Hang Klip. On descending the mountain you will be driven through the streets of the thriving City of Cape Town, thronging with different cultures and traditions. If the Cable Car is not operating I will drive you around the contour of the Mountain and onto Signal Hill where you will enjoy absolutely magnificent views.

You will drive past the Castle of Good Hope which is the oldest building in the country. Take a stroll through the Company Gardens, originally the vegetable and fruit orchard which supplied the passing ships. Mozy around Greenmarket Square, a thriving flea market offering all sorts of arts, crafts, clothing and curios. Experience our fascinating cultural diversity when we meander through “Die Bo Kaap” previously known as the Cape Malay District.

After that you have the choice of spending time at your leisure at the V&A Waterfront, taking a trip to Robben Island, taking a walk through our world famous Kirstnebosch Gardens, or I can arrange for you do a Township Tour.  Once again, With Cape Splendour, the choices are endless!

Day 2: Splendours of the Cape Tour

No visit to the Cape is complete without this Tour which showcases the contrast between the harsh and rugged coast line which earned itself the name “The Cape of Storms” and the beauty of False Bay and Hout Bay.

The day commences with a Scenic drive to Hout Bay where you have the option of boarding a boat and view the Cape Fur Seals on Duiker Island. After another very scenic drive along the world famous Chapman’s Peak drive (if open), we experience the Cape of Good Hope (Africa’s most South Westerly tip) after briefly popping into an Ostrich farm. At Cape Point you can take the Funicular to the Light House. We then drive along False bay and visit the Penguins at Boulders Beach and then on to Top Stones in Simonstown where we see how semi precious stones are processed from their raw state to beautiful Jewelry. There are various other options which we can discuss, like enjoying the Sea Taxi Ride between Kalk Bay and Simons Town or some wine tasting in the Constantia Valley or if ou did not opt for that yesterday a stroll through Kirstenbosch Gardens. It is YOUR day so You choose!

Day 3: The Wonderful Winelands Tour

Experience the Beauty and the Bounty of the Cape Winelands. The vines which are nestled in the Eerste River Valley, the Franschoek valley and the Perelvallei (valley of Pearls) are steeped in history which is manifested by the Architecture, Museums and the Monuments. You will be treated to a Cellar Tour which will give you an idea as to how the wine is processed from the humble grape to the ‘nectar of the God’s’.

You may also experience Oom Samie se Winkel, a traditional trading store with everything from dried fish and home made jams to antique typewriters and gramophones! You may prefer to stroll through the University Town of Stellenbosch (the Town of Oaks) soaking up it’s vibe, history and culture!

You will experience at least three different tastings on Wine farms in the regions of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington or Franschhoek The quality of the wine is complimented by the beauty of the scenery. To keep the kids happy we would skip one or two wine tastings and do the following: Stroke the Cheetahs at Spier , Visit Butterfly World or a Crocodile farm or take a quad ride or a horse ride! With Cape Splendour, the choices are unlimited!

Day 4. Oudtshoorn

Today we head for Oudtshoorn where there will be time to  explore the incredibly beautiful and fascinating Cango Caves before settling in to your luxury 4 Star B& B and enjoying South African hospitality at it’s best. After a lovely breakfast we visit an Ostrich Farm and the Cango Animal Ranch where there are the most amazing array of animals from crocodiles and snakes to cheetahs and tigers (which you have the option of strokng!), before making our way to Knysna.

Day 5 Knysna

After another scrumptious breakfast, board a Ferry across the Knysna Lagoon to Feather Bed Bay, take a tractor ride to the top of the hill and enjoy the most magnificent walk down to the bottom for a tremendous buffet lunch. The afternoon offers various options from lying on a the Beach at Brenton on Sea, enjoying Oysters and an Oyster tour, or Beer and a Brewery tour.  A lovely way to round off the day would be to have sundowners at the Simola Golf course which over looks the magnificent course and Knysna itself!

Day 6 Tsitsikamma National Park and Knysna

After yet another yummy breakfast we will make our way to Knysna Elephant Park where you will actually feed and stroke the Ellies, an experience never to be forgotten! Our next adventure will be gliding through the trees like Tarzan and Jane (for anyone over 7 who is not scared of heights) in the Tsitsikamma Forest (Optional). For the less adventurous we can go down to Storms River to experience the beautiful scenery and venture across the Suspension Bridge. Up for the highest Bungy jump in the world? If not lets watch some crazy people do it! Perhaps you would like to enjoy a cup of tea or a sundowner at the heads before freshening up for a night out on the Knysna Waterfront.

There are other alternatives to consider on this day like a boat based whale and Dolphin watching trip, thrilling as they launch you into the surf with a 4 x 4 and you ride straight up the beach on the return trip.  A lovely experience.  A walk on Roberg for the slightly fit is also a great option.   You may wish to add another day to your tour to accommodate these activities.

Day 7: Home James!

It is a pretty long drive back to Cape Town, so a fairly early start and a few stops along the way like the Post Office Tree in Mossel Bay and Swellendam, South Africa’s third oldest Town.  We should have you home by 18h00 or thereabouts.

Should you want to shorten the drive home we can always stay over in Swellendam or Hermanus, the choice is yours, just let us know.
