FANTASTIECK!

Recommendation from a happy Customer

While I was in South Africa I was lucky to be shown around by a fantastic private tour guide, called Julie Clarke. She is very good, knowledgeable, reliable and good fun too.

If you ever need a private tour guide (she has her own mini-van), I would thoroughly recommend her.

Hi Julie,

We are now back in wet dreary England after one of the most enjoyable
and relaxing holidays ever in your beautiful country.Much of the credit for
this goes to you for hosting us on our 10 day Garden Route and Game Park
Trek.It was a great comfort to know we were in a safe pair of hands who was
prepared to drive over 500 miles in one day without losing her hair or
concentration or ability to talk and entertain. We also admired your ability to
produce idyllic beaches, superb restaurants(including take away fish and chips
eaten in a smart Yacht Club),elephants and assorted other wildlife in such a
seemingly effortless manner. We miss your smile and easy going personality and
the opportunity to share a few drinks with you at the end of a hard(?) day.We
will not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone we know who visits
Capetown.

You are now a friend rather than a host and we hope you will keep in touch and
keep us informed of you and your family`s activities. Thanks once again for
everything.

Our very best wishes and fondest regards,

Sandra and Rod

Hi Julie

Just a quick note to say hi, and thanks for setting up all the accommodation for us on our trip to South Africa. We had a fantastic time staying at the various places. We loved the B&B in Mossel Bay. We couldn't believe our eyes when we walked inside the apartment and saw the decor. I had to keep reminding Connor not to touch the Ostrich eggs, amongst other things around the rooms!

The children were so made up to have their own ensuite they loved their bedroom! Susan was a fantastic host and the presentation and service of her breakfasts was 5 star. The views were fantastic from the house and we had a lovely relaxing time there.
Unfortunately Alex got sunburnt on the beach early in the morning so she now understands why I nag about sun tan lotion being on at all times.

The stay at Blackwaters Lodge was lovely as well. Very different to Mossel Bay with the decor and the location, but we were made to feel very welcome by Jackie and Steve and the children made friends with Savannah and Michael their children, and were sad to leave when we had to move on. The kids saw a snake in the swimming pool at the Lodge and Tim fished it out with the pool net. Brave soul!

Plettenberg Bay the Baroness Lodge was interesting. We couldn't believe the size of the bedrooms that we had. They were unbelievable and the Victorian furniture was amazing. Tim and I loved the place, however the kids were very wary of the victorian style bathroom in the bedroom and both refused to have a shower or bath whilst there, because the water was brackish in colour. I don't think the kids are cut out for roughing it they definitely wouldn't be any good in the bush!

We went on two game drives at different times of the day and were lucky enough to see the lions on the first drive as on the second day it was too hot and they were hiding in the bush. On the second night we were the only ones there so had the place to ourselves. The staff were very good there, very accommodating.

We made it as far east as Storms River on our trip along the Garden Route. We watched the Bungy jumping on our way back west and Alex wants to return and have a go when she is 14. When we left Plettenberg we had a very long day as we went to the Cango Caves on our way to Cape A'lGulhas as we didn't visit there from Mossel Bay. It was a very long day indeed, but worth the journey for all the scenery. We stopped off for a snack at the Old Mill in Swellendam again (we stopped there on the way up) as the pancakes were so good! Thanks for suggesting that we stop there for lunch.

Thanks for arranging the pick ups and drops off in Cape Town and the tours to the Peninsular and the Wine regions. We enjoyed all of it. I've now downloaded all the photos and we've got hundreds. One day we hope to be back to visit again. Alex said that she prefers South Africa to Barbados and can't wait to be back! A real reccommendation from a 10 year old.

Thanks once again. I am following up on the name of the tour people in Cape Town for you.

Regards

Carol

Dear Julie

Thank you so much for our arranging our stay at the Welegelen and the tour down to Cape Point etc. We all had the most wonderful holiday.

The stay at the Woodall was fabulous, we went on safari and saw everything but giraffe. Marg and I want to come back to see the giraffes as it was the one thing we had wanted to see in the wild. We both went bareback elephant riding at the Elephant Sanctuary at Knysna. It was very uncomfortable and a little frightening as it did not seem to take much to spook them. The whole trip was just fabulous.

My daughters are wanting to visit next year. I will give them your e mail address if that is OK.

Kindest Regards

Steve and Annette Howell

Hi Julie

We all had a great time with you in Cape Town and I think it was one of my better decisions to book you for the duration of our trip.

My thoughts about the experience are all positive, including the accommodation (once we resolved the breakfast timings). I would probably book accommodation at the V&A next time round as it would be great to have some time in the evenings by the docks. Having said that the views from the guest house and the breakfasts were fantastic.

I have just about finished cataloging some 2.000 photos from the whole trip so I will put some good ones on a cd for you and send it airmail. Please feel free to use any images that I send in anyway you see fit.

If you ever need me to give a reference to potential UK visitors please do not hesitate to give them my email and office number 00 44 1992 767300, as I would be happy to recommend your services to anyone planning a visit to Cape Town. I will also pass on your details to my business travel agent Katy Phillips who works for Travel Counselors, a large organisation here in the UK.

Once again many thanks for a splendid trip.

Regards
Bob

Hi Julie, We had a great time many thanks. The itinerary was perfect we did things Sebine and Rob had not done before. Sebine was outstanding and so good to the children and ourselves. The children all said it was the best holiday ever. I think we were also very lucky with the weather. The hotel was excellent I would certainly recommend it, great views and very friendly for a large hotel and reasonably priced if booked through an agency. We took 400 photos I will sort out some good ones for you. we will certainly recommend you to our fiends.
Many thanks

Hi Julie, we're back home in England (it's grey and it's raining) and just wanted to say a big thank you for the lovely day we had together down at Hermanus!

After we left you we went on to Franshoek for a couple of days, then back to Capetown then finally on to the Kamberg Nature Reserve via Durban where we attended a family wedding. The entire trip has been memorable and exciting although a bit tiring at times, so next time we'd like to speak to and maybe you can arrange our itinerary for us?

We will certainly give your contact details to any of our friends who may be planning a visit to South Africa and we hope to see you ourselves next time.

Thank you once again for a wonderful day, we so enjoyed your company and you made sure we were met by a whole colony of whales, who could ask for more??

Take care and our best regards

We've been back for a week now and are ready to head back to your country.

I did want to write and thank you for the lovely day trip. Sheila, Ann, Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed your company, including your George Bush walk. We realized shortly after you dropped us off at Mama Africa that we hadn't taped your George Bush walk and would have really liked to immortalize it on film!

Thank you so much again. I do treasure the day we spent at Cape Town and remember well how perfect the weather was. Your stories about Just Nuisance and the baboons getting your chocolate at the Cape of Good Hope still bring a smile to my face. You can be sure that we'll pass your name along. We know many people that travel and will encourage them to contact you. My neighbor and her husband want to go to S. Africa and we've been urging them. We intend on enticing them further with the great videos Mike took. I think they'll be an easy couple to persuade. Hopefully you'll hear from them sometime in the next several months.

Good luck in your business. I guess that it is fairly competitive in your country, but you should rank among the best! And you should quote that. Seriously, let me know what I can do to help your business. You were delightful and we all enjoyed you and your part of S. Africa because of you.

Thanks,

Nancy McCarthy (USA)

A Report on Cape Splendour from a satisfied visitor:
I came across Julie Clarke and Cape Splendour Tours through the internet. It was a very fortuitous discovery on my part. Julie is a long-time resident of Cape Town, and after a previous career in the banking industry now owns and operates her own tour company. She specializes in private one-on-one tours of Cape Town and the surrounding area. I can not speak too highly of Julie and Cape Splendour Tours. She is outgoing, knowledgeable, innovative, and very easy to get along with. She happily arranged my accommodation, my tours, and all my travel in South Africa for a considerable less amount than that promoted by other tour operators. I would highly recommend that Julie's services be added to your list of tour suppliers in South Africa. She was great!

A letter from the U.K.
We had such a fantastic time in Cape Town and thank you for your superb hosting. I was delightfully surprised at how picturesque the City and surrounding area is and how friendly and safe it is too. I have been your biggest ambassador for the Western Cape since returning, recommending everyone to go, even recommended it for my friend's honeymoon in Sept.

Anyway, I hope we do come over again one day, but until then I will keep very fond memories of our trip, the view of the mountain, Franschhoek and Blouberg.

We will send you some pictures when we have sorted them.

Take Care
